About the Classes
All classes meet weekly. Tuition must be paid in full at least one week before the first class day to guarantee a place in the class. Class sizes are limited.

Contemporary Painting and Drawing

Students will expand their creative potential and have fun exploring the freedom in style and techniques of contemporary painting and drawing.
Dada Collage

Students will study Dadaist aesthetics and employ them to create thematic, monochromatic, mixed media and archival collages.
Exploration of Color

This class is about experimenting and exploring with color while you paint. We will discuss primary, complimentary, analogous, and split compliments as well as value, hue and intensity.
Hand-Building with Clay

This course will focus on learning about the properties and possibilities of clay using techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab construction.
How to Create a Strong, Highly-Crafted Poem

Students will explore contemporary poetry, and write their own poetry to be critiqued by classmates and instructor.

Latin Dance
Teacher: Angel Davila.Meeting time: Mondays, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm

This class will teach latin dances like salsa, bachata, merengue and cha cha cha in a fun atmosphere of great salsa music and encouragement. The class will cover beginning dance steps and progress to more advanced dance moves based on the students’ abilities.
Life Drawing

This course is an introduction to creating drawings based on in-class observations of a range of artist’s models and still life arrangements. Great for beginning students or as a “refresher” for more advanced artists.
Mexican Art History: Conquest to Muralismo

This course offers an overview of Mexican art history initiating from the Spanish conquest up to the Muralismo movement. Students will come to a richer understanding of modern art in Mexico, which started developing after the conquest when Western art began to flourish. Each student will chose a theme to investigate and present to the class.
Mixed Media Painting

Students will be encouraged to explore painting through traditional and non-traditional materials and applications. This course will focus on experimenting with these materials in order to discover how they lend themselves to expression.
Movement/Meditation

Awareness through Movement consists of gentle, verbally guided movement sequences addressing every human function and area of the body.
Painting Unlimited

This class will focus on learning the techniques of photocopy transfer, chemical photo transfer, acrylic, oil, and mixed media techniques. Anything goes. There is nothing that is not possible in painting.
Telling Your Story

Do you have stories you can never forget? In this class you will take your observations of the world and your life and tell the stories that are waiting to be born. Offered in conjunction with NEISD Continuing Education.
The Language of Photography

This introductory course will explore the interplay of composition, content, and quality of light in communicating the photographer’s vision. Discussion will focus on student work, with occasional examples by other photographers.
The Prose Poem

Students will explore the genre of prose poetry (poetry written in paragraph form), and write their own prose poems to be critiqued by classmates and instructor.

Urban Drawing Studio

The drawing studio will consist of studying and exploring images of the city, landscapes, machines and people through the use of various drawing media: pencil, pen, and charcoal.
Writing Prose: Memoirs, Personal Essays and Short Stories

Semester: February 14 to May 8 (10 sessions)

Students will explore the tenets of strong writing (fiction and non-fiction). Students will have their writing critiqued by students and instructor.
