About

About the Gallery

Salon Mijangos is a 1,000 square foot home for contemporary art ranging from painting to music to film to poetry. The gallery hosts shows by local, national, and international artists who are pushing boundaries and breaking down barriers between artistic disciplines.

Salon Mijangos has quickly established itself as an important venue for all things avant-garde in San Antonio. — Michelle Gonzalez Valdez, Glasstire

Mission of the Art School

Salon Mijangos aims to provide classes that teach above all how to be free, how to move outside the confines of specific mediums, styles and ways of thinking about art. Our vehicle is the process of creating, but our goal is to break down the barriers that trap artists within second-hand concepts of what art should be. Learn to find your voice, solidify your voice, use your voice to bring disparate styles and mediums together into a cohesive whole.

An artist must never be a prisoner even of himself, a prisoner of a style, a prisoner of a reputation, a prisoner of good fortune. — Matisse
